When you absolutely, positively, have to get there in style, and there happens to be 300 miles into the harshest possible territory (or your local grocery store,) there is nothing better to do it in than a Land Rover Range Rover. 

Fusing style with function has been the typical design of the Range Rover since way back in the early 50's, but for the 2010 redesign so many stylistic, technological, and safety features have been revamped and reworked that it's almost like driving a whole new different vehicle which happens to look a lot like the old one.

Range Rover's external appearance has been similar for well over a decade, and the engineering department saw absolutely no reason to deviate from it more than necessary for the enhancements that were to be made.  Still in tact is the signature silhouette, brake vents, and general line, however the similarities end at the body. 

First on the list of vast upgrades is the power plant.  Deciding that the old 5.0L V8 simply wasn't enough, Range Rover upgraded their engine significantly, bringing the normally aspirated V8 to the standard of the last models supercharged version.  Ample power is literally at your toe tips, this large off-road SUV being capable of 0-60mph in just over 7 seconds, and leaving plenty of passing power to play with even at Autobahn speeds.

Reality is that if you're buying a Range Rover, you're probably going to spend at least some of your time off the road.  That being the case, the entire electronics package has been replaced in the 2010 model to allow for some of the best off-road experiences ever seen.  Stability is massively increased with a new suspension and the electronics packages maintain control over each wheels speed individually, allowing the vehicle to remain upright effortlessly through tough turns, or over rocky terrain.

While the external features are outstanding, and the performance from the engine and suspension are phenomenal, Range Rover didn't leave the interior alone. 

High quality leather literally wraps the driver and passengers into a new degree of comfort, and remember the suspension upgrades?  You can definitely tell.  So little of the intense bumps are transferred to the riders that it's a small wonder the vehicle even moved.  The entire control panel has been replaced with a TFT screen, allowing the user to control features with an easy to use thumb cursor on the steering wheel in completely natural position.
