Job Description: Requirements: Education: Licensed and currently registered in New York State as a Registered Nurse. Graduate of an accredited educational program for Register Nurses, or has completed the required portion of a Registered Nurse educational program to be considered equivalent. Responsibilities: Assists in planning and evaluating direct nursing care of residents. Serves as a Charge Nurse supervising the work of certified nursing assistants. Performs nursing activities which contribute to: maintenance of the residents' personal hygiene; meeting the nutritional needs of the residents; maintenance or restoration of normal elimination processes; maintenance or restoration of corrective body alignment and body tissue. Transcribes physician's orders and assist with medical rounds. Assesses resident conditions accurately and reports changes as required to the RN Supervisor and attending physician. Assists in the development and implementation of resident care plans and in coordinating the multidisciplinary plan of care with all other services. Supports the efforts of other therapies by effectively carrying out restorative nursing measures established in conjunction with the respective therapies. Performs treatments and other nursing measures as indicated by the physician's orders and the resident plan of care. Accurately documents observations and reports them to appropriate sources as indicated.\ Effectively applies comfort and safety measures to meet resident's needs. Administers medications to residents according to established policy and procedure, including controlled substances Supervises assigned Certified Nursing Assistants on unit. Develops and utilizes effective skills in reality orientation and communicating with residents. Utilizes auxiliary personnel in executing the resulting quantity and quality of care which has been given. Assist in the directing and teaching and evaluating of auxiliary personnel. Teaches basic health measures and carries out other routine aspects of care. Responsible for carrying out standards of care and patient/resident care policies and procedures established for this facility. Demonstrates an understanding of pathological processes and pharmacological effects in treatment of residents under his/her care. Supervises and assists with resident meal service in dining room, day room and on unit. Administers tube feedings per MD order and monitors for complications. Is aware of the Resident Abuse Law and the Elder Justice Act and his/her responsibility related to such.
