Department: Center for Excellence in TeachingOfficial Title: Online Instructional DesignerNumber of IndividualsWith the Job Description: One Organizational Unit/Department: Center for Excellence in TeachingWork Location: Main CampusTitle of Immediate Supervisor: Director, Center for Excellence in TeachingTitle of Other Positions ReportingTo This Position: None Purpose of Position: This position is responsible for collaborating with faculty members in the development of, or conversion of, courses for online and hybrid learning modalities including the selection of appropriate instructional, and technological strategies. Tasks/Duties Performed: The responsibilities of the position will include, but may not be limited to:Instructional DevelopmentManage and track the course development process. Provide timely formative feedback and assistance to faculty for the enhancement of hybrid and online courses.Instructional MediaCollaborate with faculty on developing instructionally appropriate rich media (video, audio, and/or interactive).Maintain media production studio including equipment, software, and schedule.Instructional TechnologyBuild online lesson materials using faculty content, other instructional content, software applications (eg, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, Articulate, Audacity), and Learning Management System (eg, Blackboard)Collaborate with members of Office of Information Technology in supporting instructional technology in online coursesOtherStay informed about instructional technologies and curricular practicesIn collaboration with CETL, conduct or assist with faculty developmentOther duties as assigned Education: Master's Degree in Instructional Design, Education Technology, Higher Education or related disciplines. Qualifications:Experience in higher education or corporate training environments preferredExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProficient with rich media production experience (please include demo file of capabilities)Familiarity with common instructional design principles (eg, ADDIE, Integrated or Backwards Design, formative feedback, etc.)Proficiency with software programs including but not limited to MS Office, Blackboard, Adobe Premiere/Final Cut, etc.Experience working on project teams to accomplish tasks and milestones in timely manner preferred Experience:The incumbent will possess excellent phone skills and will be able to communicate and interact professionally with internal and external constituencies at all levels. This role will require excellent time management skills and demonstrated multi-tasking skills as responsibilities will shift in order to support dynamic needs and achievement of the Education Department's mission. Required Competencies:Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand, create and manage basic statistical reports. MS Word, Excel, and data base management experience are required.
