Eastern Applied Research has grown based around providing efficient customer support and developing those relationships over the long-term. We are currently looking to add a part-time quality control/standards lab assistant based out of our Western NY service center to supply new XRF calibration Standards and provide annual re-certifications.


The Quality Control/Lab Technician assistant is responsible for daily data entry, inspection and documentation required within the Eastern Applied Research Quality Program. Assure the lab is running a full maximized potential on a daily basis. Ensure all job duties are fulfilled in a timely fashion and all customers are satisfied. Actively participates in daily activities.


• Performs standard scientific/laboratory procedures. Records data and results.
• Sets up, operates, and maintains laboratory equipment and apparatus.
• Prepares chemical solutions and media.
• Orders, stocks and distributes supplies.
• Maintains work area and cleanliness of laboratory.
• Washes and sterilizes glassware and equipment.
• May assist in procedures using animals.
• May compile data on scientific/laboratory procedures.
• Performs additional functions incidental to laboratory activities.
• Perform various levels of inspection: incoming receiving, in-process manufacturing
and finished goods process.
• Input data pertinent to quality database systems for capturing, analyzing, and
providing timely and accurate reporting and corrective actions.
• Helps in the development and application of effective quality product and process
plans to ensure full compliance of product standards, specifications, and quality
system requirements. This also includes labeling and certifications requirements of
• Is constructive and takes responsibility for needed actions to support quality and
business goals.
• Documents finished product status by recording and summarizing raw materials, in-
process, and finished product inspection and physical test-data; updating quality
assurance reports.
• Ordering and Inventory of material.
• Involved in all clerical duties up to and including filling of paperwork and
following up with customer emails.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science or related
field is helpful but not required
• Prefer knowledge in ISO 17025 certifications or ability to obtain certifications
within 1 year.
• Minimum 1-3 years’ experience.
• Ability to establish and maintain a neat organized work environment.
• Ability to use computer equipment and software applications (MS-Office Products).
• Good communications skills both written and verbal.
• Ability to use calibrated measuring equipment including a comparator, caliper,
weight scales, micrometers, etc.
• Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail required.
• Good technical/mechanical aptitude
• Good follow-up skills
• Ability to solve lab problems using addition, subtraction, multiplication, division,
fractions, decimals, squares, and square roots.
• Ability to provide extended flexible work hours, as work-load and projects requires.
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs from the floor level up to the inspection station.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Eastern Applied Research will provide hands-on training of all analyzers, so the more critical initial qualifications will be a general knowledge of electronics and industrial equipment with an interest in learning about the various analyzers. Have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence for current and new customers. Have the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Have the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
