Credit Accounting Analyst II Buffalo, NY Basic Function Evaluate and determine the credit risks of commercial clients through detailed financial statement analysis, industry assessment, collateral valuation, cash flow analysis and the ability to repay annual debt service. Determine the estimated loss or loan loss reserve required to cover the credit risk of impaired commercial credits. Core Position Responsibilities * Responsible for the proper calculation of cash flows and loan loss reserves for the acquired and legacy loan portfolios by reviewing all pertinent credit and financial information. * Assist in the estimation of the Lifetime Loss on the Acquired Commercial Loan portfolio. * Maintain a general knowledge of accounting pronouncements and the effect on Bank credits, with a specific focus on the Loan Loss Reserve, Acquired Loan Accounting, and Troubled Debt Restructures. * Coordination of data and processes in support of both internal and external reporting requirements to Finance, Credit Senior Management, Regulatory reviews, etc. * Assist in the preparation of the monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements of the department. * Participate in various Departmental projects * Perform other related assignments as requested by management. * Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies. * Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit. * Promote an environment that supports diversity. Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor's degree, and 3 years of relevant experience or in lieu of a bachelor's degree 7 years' commercial credit experience or similar banking experience. * Advanced Excel skills. * Superior attention to detail and process orientation. * Ability to work with large amounts of data and the ability to identify and reconcile differences. * Excellent organizational and time management skills. * Ability to work well under pressure and balance multiple priorities. * Ability to apply critical thinking skills. * Availability to work overtime during critical reporting cycles. * General knowledge of accounting principles * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Excellent analytical ability. * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. * Team player Ideal Qualifications * In-depth knowledge of personal computers and various software programs such as Windows Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint, and internal bank systems including, AFS and CLAS. * Ability to interact in a professional manner with all levels of personnel both internal and external.
